Promoting Your Website
Promoting your website

Before promoting your website, you must first ask yourself this question:

What do your want your prospect to do?

Do you want them to go to your website and be confused about what to do or be overwhelmed with so much information that they get bogged down and never take action? Or, do you want them to take action by placing an order or enrolling as your partner?

The answer to this question should be obvious, but many people miss this point. It is important to have a website that is very user friendly and focused on getting the prospect to take the desired action once they get there. If your website is not user friendly or if it is confusing to your prospects, we can help by enhancing your website to be like ours at www.nikken.com/rkotter.

Once you have a user friendly website that is focused on getting the prospect to take the desired action, the next step is to get them to visit your website.

Ask then follow up

The key to getting people to go to your website is the same as using any other tool when building your business as a Nikken Independent Consultant, such as a catalog, an audio or video tape, or an event. You must ASK then FOLLOW UP.

There are many ways to ask someone to visit your website. Here are some suggestions:

  • When the prospect wants more information.
When you find someone that is interested in what you offer as a Nikken Independent Consultant and wants more information, ask them if they have access to the Internet. If so, ask them to visit your website. This saves having to send so much information through the mail. We find that people who want more information are very impressed that they can get it immediately on our website. It is very important that you follow up with them, just as you should follow up with them if you give them a catalog or a tape.
  • When the prospect wants to order.
When your prospect wants to order some products, ask them if they would like to save some money. Then, suggest that they place their own order on your website. This even works better if you can be with them when they go on-line to place their order. Always remember to follow up with them.
  • When the prospect wants to sign up.
When your prospect wants to sign up, suggest that they sign themselves up instantly on your website. Again, this even works better if you can be with them when they go on-line to sign up. Always remember to follow up with them.
  • When you are talking with them.
When you are talking with your prospect in person or on the phone, or you are giving them a demo, ask them to visit your website to check it out. Always remember to follow up with them.
  • As a next step in a 21 Club.
After your demonstration, ask them to visit your website, and tell them they can get a special discount on all of your products on your website. Always remember to follow up with them.
  • Send targeted email messages.
Always ask your prospects and customers for their email address. Then, develop and use email distribution lists to help stay in touch with them. Create and send targeted email messages about the products or opportunity you offer as a Nikken Independent Consultant. You might let them know about the latest product announcements or a featured product. Include a "call to action" for them to click on a link to your website in the email message.

We suggest that you try to keep your email messages personal. For example, if the message is directed personally to them by name, it will be much more effective than if it appears that it was sent to a huge list of people. Personal communications are ok, but avoid sending SPAM, or unwanted email, especially to people that you do not know. You should add a line at the end of your message for them to let you know if they want to be removed from your distribution list.

  • Using an email signature.
Include a "signature" at the end of all of your email messages with a link to your website. Most email programs have an option to set up some text that automatically get's added to the end of your email messages. For example:
    Warmest Regards,
    Rich & Ronda Kotter

  • Using business cards.
Add your website address to your business cards and ask your prospects and customers to visit your website when you give it to them. You should also get their card or contact information, so that you can properly follow up.
  • Using brochures or fliers.
Add your website address to brochures or fliers that you give to prospects and ask them to visit your website. Also ask them for their contact information so you can properly follow up.
  • Trade shows.
At a trade show or other event give them a card or flier with your website address and ask them to visit for more information. If you are having a drawing, be sure to ask them for their email address, along with any other contact information, so you can send them a follow up email.
  • Using letters and stationary.
Add your website address to your letters and stationary. Ask your prospect to visit your website. Always remember to follow up.
  • Link from another website.
You can place a link on another website to your 5pillars personal website. For example, if you have a separate family, business or hobby website, you can put a link on it to your 5pillars personal website. You must be careful not to violate the policies that apply to Nikken Independent Consultants about what you say on your outside website. Nikken's policy states "No Independent Distributor may independently design a Website that uses the names, logos, or product descriptions of Nikken. Nor may any distributor use "blind" ads on the Internet making product or income claims which are ultimately associated with Nikken products or the Nikken compensation plan."

Even though you may link from an outside website to your 5pillars personal website, the opposite is not true. Nikken Independent Consultants are not permitted to have links from 5pillars personal websites to any outside websites.

  • Using advertisements.
We believe your best bet is personal contact, as we are in a person-to-person business. However, if you are advertising, be sure to include your website address in the advertisement. Nikken Independent Consultant policy says "Nikken Independent Distributors may use ads received from Nikken in the “Media Relations and Advertising Kit” (including approved classified display ads) without further application or permission." You may place your website address in your advertisement.
  • Things to avoid.
Nikken Independent Consultants are not permitted to submit their website to internet search engines. Imagine the problem that would be created by setting up competition between thousands of wellness consultants to see who can get more hits on search engines. Nikken Independent Consultants are also not permitted to use unsolicited email (SPAM) to target large lists of email addresses of people you do not know.

Remember that we are in a person-to-person business. Use your website to create a personal connection with your prospects and customers, to make it easy for them to take action, and to leverage your time.
